Summer 2008 Drawing Lessons for Children (Monday-Thursday, June 9-12, 2008) |
YOU CAN TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE THROUGH ART!
THE JOY OF ART... OF DRAWING CAN BE YOURS FOR LIFE!
EVERYONE HAS THE TALENT INSIDE... LET'S BRING THE EXCITEMENT OUT!
DO YOU WISH YOU COULD DRAW, REALLY DRAW THE IMAGES YOU SEE IN YOUR MIND?
OR THROUGH YOUR EYES? WELL - YOU CAN!
You may be surprised to learn you have an inborn ability to see and draw. It's true! Everyone has it inside. And regardless of your age or talent, or your thought of your "lack of talent", you can develop your artistic skills.
Paulette can teach you DRAWING ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN. You will learn to see as artists do, accessing the creative right brain that you may not usually use as effectively as you could. Paulette will teach you Perceptual Skills for seeing that will enable you to unlock your creative, artistic potential.
Improving your ability to see and draw gives you another benefit - it improves the way you solve problems in your daily life. By strengthening your access to the artistic, non-verbal side of your brain, you increase your overall brain power and your ability to solve problems flexibly and creatively. |
CAN I REALLY LEARN TO USE MY ARTISTIC SIDE?
Definitely yes! Through Paulette's lessons you'll become aware of and experience the functions of both sides of your brain. We all know that verbal and analytical skills have benefitted by education. Remember all the time you spent in schools memorizing facts or solving problems? Now you can train yourself to use your visual, perceptual skills. The ones you need for art or any creative endeavor. |
| WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE COME TO PAULETTE TO LEARN TO DRAW?
- People who cannot draw at all and those who believe they have no talent for drawing
- People who doubt they could ever learn to draw, but who would like to learn
- People who wish to improve their ability to see and think creatively
- People who want to improve their problem solving skills
- Overworked and overstressed professionals and executives who need a way of balancing the kind of energy they burn

HOW DO CHILDREN BENEFIT FROM LEARNING TO DRAW?
Educators are becoming aware of the need to develop perceptual skills in their students. As noted earlier, perceptual skills are enhanced by training, just as verbal, analytical skills benefit from edcuation.
Children who learn the visual system through drawing will experience a positive effect on their overall learning and thinking. Recent studies have shown that instruction in visual thinking improves reasoning abilities. Further, individuals who are successful problem solvers tend to use visual solution processes.
A shared belief exists among educators that perceptual skills are deeply involved in congition and the creative process.
Children between the ages of 9 to 11 usually experience difficulty with their drawing skills. The drawings of their earlier ages, which adults found charming, come to be regarded by the children as silly "kid" stuff. At this time it is especially vital to give help which enables the children to achieve the realism they crave. If this is not done, they tend to decide they have "no talent" and give up drawing forever. Such a loss.
At this point in a child's life, an experienced art teacher can meet the needs of the child by a) using their wish for realism to teach perceptual skills and b) commending the hard work that goes into the child's seeing and recording their observations. |
